Diamond Grinding

Diamond grinding can have many applications in both the commercial and residential markets.

Removal of Glue, Paint and Epoxy removal: There can be several reasons for wanting to remove these products from your existing substrate. It can be as simple as wanting to rejuvenate your slab and give it a brand new look. If you are looking to place new floor coverings down such as vinyl, tiles or timber and they are going to be directly stuck to your existing floor the existing glue, paint or epoxy must be removed to allow proper bonding of your new adhesive to the slab. Our company has all the state of the art machinery and diamond technologies to remove the most stubborn of adhesives, paints and epoxies in a professional and dustless manner. Through years of experience our company has mastered the use of various diamond disks to remove the most stubborn of contaminants in an efficient and time effective manner to ensure your project is kept on time and budget.

Rain damaged slabs: Unfortunately Mother Nature can be cruel with her timing and even the best laid plans can come unstuck. If your new or existing slab has been damaged by rain and is left looking powdery or pitted which may prevent you from applying your new floor coverings our team at Prolevel can come in with our machinery and using a higher grit diamond can remove the top layer of powder or pitting and give you a substrate that will allow you to continue with your project.

Polished Concrete: The look of honed or polished concete has become very popular in the marketplace place due to its various appearances and its resilient hardwearing finish. The art of polishing concrete can be applied to both existing and new concrete slabs.

Existing slabs: Prolevel has had over 15 years of perfecting the art of polishing and honing slabs to give you a look that can vary from the industrial warehouse look to a marble or granite looking finish. We begin by rough cutting your floor using our dustless diamond grinding equipment and a coarse diamond grinding disk which will cut back the top layer of your slab exposing any aggregate that may be in your substrate. As the slab may not have been poured for polishing you may get various amounts of aggregate through which can vary from a salt and pepper look to heavy stone however this can generally be controlled to your liking by our experts. Once the first cut has been completed we use a specially designed compound to fill any existing cracks in your floor which will disguise them and give you a new looking slab. After the compound has cured the polishing process begins. The diamond disks are changed to a finer grit which eliminates any scoring of the slab which may have occurred during the cutting process. The continuous polishing with the fine grit diamonds will close the concrete up and give you a polished finish. The slab is then applied with a sealer which can give you a variety of looks such as a flat matt up to a full gloss finish. For wet areas are experts can apply a slip resistant grit into the coat of your sealer giving you piece of mind in the aspect of safety. In general the process for a garage size slab would take between 2-3 days.

New Slabs: This process can give you the most unbelievable looking finishes. The concrete can be ordered specifically for polishing and with a colour scheme of aggregate and concrete you can let your imagination and design run free. Our team generally will recommend putting a first or rough cut on your new slab within the first week of pouring it to ensure maximum stone is revealed in your exciting new slab. The floor can then be left for any period of time you choose giving you time to complete the rest of your project i.e. Walls, plastering and painting as the polishing and sealing process should be left until last. Once your project is ready to have your final cut and polish achieved it is then a matter of our experts placing a fine polishing disk onto our dustless diamond grinders and honing or polishing your floor to remove any imperfections that may have occurred during the rough cut stage. Once this has been achieved a sealer can be applied giving you a finished look that can vary from a flat matt to a high gloss finish. Should your new polished concrete be around a wet area i.e. Pool area our experts can apply a slip resistance to your finishing coats to give you piece of mind in the safety aspect.
